We had a new Goodman heat and AC unit installed 5/28/17. The installer has been back 4 times because of Freon leaks. Now 2 yrs. after install and 4 trips because of Freon leaks it is out of Freon again. I am ready to get rid of this unit. I would not recommend any one go through what we have to have AC, so please do not buy a Goodman unit.

On 6/7/19, my 11 year old Goodman Furnace had a near catastrophic overheating which melted the main control board and ruined the entire interior of the furnace with a putrid smelling black carbon dust. After sending photographs and a detailed report from the professional installer, who has only seen such a near fire twice in his 30 year career, I was told by Senior Management, “There is nothing we can do since you are 12 months out of warranty”!
After discovering that Goodman had underreported major fire issues with other products in the past and was fined by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, I have decided that I want nothing to do with this company and their utter dismissal of my complaint and request for some assistance with a completely unreasonable $4,000 expense. This highly dangerous and unusual failure of a product without any company empathy or concern, after a vigorous outreach on my part, warrants this review and a refusal for anyone who is considering putting their lives in this company’s hands, to enrich this multi-billion dollar company any further.

So sorry to write this, but want to warn others not to waste their money buying Goodman HVACs. We are a manufacturer's dream because we take care of anything we own. Since purchasing our unit in 2017, we have had it maintained by a local HVAC company that took care of a previous unit for 10 years. On June 1, 2019 our AC went out and diagnosis by the HVAC company that does maintenance as having a bad evaporator coil. I looked online and these normally last between 10 to 15 years. Goodman did warranty the part, but the change out and restarting the unit cost more than $2k.

Purchased 4 Goodman package heat pump units, 3 out of the 4 have all had problems, bad reversing valve and compressor on 1 unit, bad condenser coil on 2 unit cannot be repaired, 2 bad condenser coils on the 3rd unit, cannot be repaired. Goodman will NOT stand behind their bad and leaking coil issues. I will never purchase another Goodman product.

I bought a new home and the Central AC unit installed is a Amana unit by Goodman and we have had nothing but problems. The unit is constantly needing repairs and the amount of money we have spent would have replaced this unit. When the unit goes out it is normally on the weekend which the labor cost doubled, only bonus is the parts are under warranty which is frustrating having no heat or ac until Monday. I reached out to Goodman because the coils have no issue and the handler was replaced in 2017 but unit is leaking and freezing up still. Goodman was no help and will not stand behind their products and I am forced to replace unit because warranty runs out next year and will not be able to afford labor and part costs. My replacement unit will not be from Goodman.

Bought a new mobile home and our AC that came with it was a Goodman. When power was turned on it did not work. Have had Freon put into it twice. Keeps leaking out. Called and was told will pay for parts but nothing else. Right out of the box nonfictional and nothing. How is this company still in business? Feel sorry for anyone who gets stuck with one of these units. It sucks!

I purchased a Goodman Heat Pump in 2010 for a local dealer who failed to send in my 10 year warranty paperwork as they indicated they would. Since 2010 the blower motor on this unit has been replaced twice in 2013 and 2014. This weekend I learned that I need yet another blower motor. In the 8.5 years that I have owned this unit, I will have replaced the blower motor 4 times! When the new dealer who services the unit contacted Goodman all they received was 'no warranty', no apologies for the number of times the motor has been replaced, no offer for a discount on the replacement part - there is clearly something defective with this model - GHP1448H41, Serial 1011283557.

Updated on 05/09/2019: Had a tech come a look at my less than 3 week old unit. Tech says the compressor has an internal blockage. Goodman tells me I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE WARRANTY WORK THEN SUBMIT THE INVOICES AND THEY WILL DECIDE WHAT TO PAY. I guess that's the new way of saying sorry sucker. Stay away from this company!!!!
Original Review: Had this unit installed 3 weeks ago and have had more problems in 3 weeks than in 11 years with my old Rheem unit. Compressor kicks out after 2 cycles, tries to restart for 2 secs then sits and clicks. I have to go to the circuit breaker, reset the unit and then wait for an hour before it will work. I have made arrangements with another company to remove and replace this junk and will be pursuing legal remedies for this junk. Buying this was a bigger mistake than marrying my ex-wife and that was a major mistake.

Bought unit 5/16, so it’s just. Little over 2 years old, stopped working. Goodman has a site that shows repairman in my area. Called one and when he came out. Before he opened the panels, 'Sir, I already know what is wrong.' He opened the panel, sprayed a soapy solution on fitting, right away bubbles. 'You have a leak.' He said just this week, this is the 3rd unit with same problem. In the same spot. Weak weld. Goodman knows about this, but the warranty doesn’t cover labor and Freon. Labor to fix the weld, isn’t covered. Defective unit. But when I talked to Goodman online, response was, 'Sorry sir, too bad.'

We had this furnace less than 6 years in our new home, this was installed by the builder, and gas valve failed to work within this short period. After contacting their customer service we were told we are out of warranty. This company has a trap set for registering the unit within 60 days of installation to get full 10 years warranty. We were not told by the builder of this trap as Goodman and the builders are all lobbying to sell cheap stuff and keeping the customer uninformed of this conditions in small writings. I am sure many new homeowners may not be aware of this condition which is deliberately set to trick the customer, so the Goodman can wash off their hands of any failed part.
Their customer service is lousy and have no consideration whatsoever for exceptional cases. They say only original homeowner will get 10 years warranty, means if the ownership changes, the warranty is over. This is really a joke & trap. How in the world the functioning of Goodman furnace part impact the performance whether Mr. X owns the house or Mr.Y, as far as both does the same maintenance and care and keep record of it as well. I was pretty sure Goodman is a big name in the industry, but this company is worse in the customer service even with a corner grocery store, who still respect their client. Never buy again from Goodman who cannot stand behind their products.

Why is this company allowed to sell defective equipment and materials. My heat went out in January 2019. It took 2 months to install new unit. In March the unit was installed. To-date, the unit is not working as of April 16 2019. Techs are having to replace new factory parts i.e gas valves, computer board, etc. It's been 3 months and still no heat. This is a brand new unit and does not work!!! No heat for the entire winter cold months. No respect and care for senior citizens.

We had just put in a brand new Goodman gas pack in 2018. The heating system does not heat as sufficient as the AC blower does. We have to put in a space heater to keep it warm during the winter but it cools just fine during the summer. I called and asked the question what would cause this. They told me that they are not trained for this type of stuff?! They told me I have to hire somebody to come out and look. The company we have put it in in Zebulon North Carolina was not trusted anymore and we had got rid of them ever since. Company name Company name Air Serv. Very poor customer service.

Installed two brand new units. Both cool and heat abysmally. Never touch Goodman again. One unit outside fan quit after 3 months. $400 to replace. Second unit failed 8 months later. One question....why are they allowed to sell these pieces of crap. There ought to be a consumer advocate group that could shut these losers down.

We had a Goodman GMH95 gas furnace and Ac installed in 2015. Three years later the heat exchanger cracked, rendering the furnace unusable. What followed were two weeks without heat and almost a $1,000 in repair costs. While the part was covered by their 'warranty', the labor was not. It took two weeks to get the part, during which we had to heat our home with space heaters which added to the cost with a huge electric bill. Never another Goodman product again!

I'd give a zero if I could. I purchased the 3.5 ton 14 SEER Goodman (GSX14042) A/C two years ago and now it doesn’t work. As I read the product reviews I see that I am not alone in my complaint of this product. There is a leak in the coil and the refrigerant has leaked out. Even though the part is “covered”, nothing else is. I still have to incur 65% of the overall repair ($2,190 of $3,390) for a 2 year old piece of equipment. I reached out to their consumer affairs line and got the standard response 'sorry for your inconvenience'. Call me crazy, but I would expect the unit to work for at least a couple years before a major issue occurs. And if a major issue did arise early on, I would think the company would try and help but that was not the case.

I am a licensed HVAC/R contractor who has been in the field for 30+ years who installs all makes and models. These last two years selling Goodman products has been very very stressful. In particular the build quality is super cheap and flimsy and their quality control is extremely poor. I've installed 30 gas furnaces in the last year and 10 of them all had wiring issues such as Molex plugs with uncrimped connections. The wires were not even stripped back and also the female spade terminals were poorly attached causing me to waste my time to fix their poorly assembled units. The last straw was I installed a brand new 80000 BTU 92% furnace for a very good customer of mine and it hasn't worked right since it had been installed. Now mind you this is not any fault of installation but fault of Goodman instead.
The gas valve was dead on arrival so I thought, 'Ah. No big deal. I'll just go ahead and replace the gas valve. Things happen,' I thought to my self. Well, in goes the new gas valve still not operating so then I'm looking at a new replacement circuit board and now I'm furious and the customer's not too happy either. So go the new board installed. Didn't fix the issue either. Now I'm fighting with customer service who is useless by the way and unwilling to help me resolve the issues. The customer service manager was dodging my phone calls and wouldn't return any of my calls. I didn't want an unhappy customer and wanted them to have heat so I removed that pile of junk and put in a New York furnace. Fired up beautifully. No problems and now the customer's happy. But I'll tell you I'm happy that the customer's happy but I'm not happy with Goodman.
Please whoever reads this refuse Goodman products. They suck. They don't care about you or me and they are not cheap to buy either. Do yourself a favor and buy a quality brand and not this cheaply made trash. It made me look bad to the customer installing a brand new unit that should have had zero problems but ended up hurting me financially as I had to buy the customer a new furnace because they wouldn't help or even refund me for this defective unit. Hopefully they go out of business selling shoddy equipment to us honest hardworking Americans like us. I will never recommend or sell Goodman ever again and will spread the word. Have a blessed day.

I hope everyone looking to buy an AC handler unit from Goodman STOPS. Bad idea... This company has absolute NO regard for customers. It's 100% about the bottom line for them. I had a whole unit installed in late September 2017. Last month it stopped working. Since the unit has been well maintained I was dumbfounded as to the reason. I called my AC installer and he said that the circuit board was factory defective and needed to be changed. The labor? $335.00. I called the company to find out about being reimbursed and was rudely told by Caroline (CSR manager) that labor was my responsibility.
I don't know how these big companies get away with selling a product with defective parts and demanding that the customer pay to remove THEIR defective part and install a good one. Now imagine my car dealership doing that to me. I would very much would like to hear from someone in Goodman management, other than Ms.'Caroline just go away I don't care about you now that I have your money'. From what I heard this part tends to fail again and again. I would like to be be reimbursed for my $335 and see how I can return this piece of junk to Goodman.

My house was built 2 years ago. My husband started noticing that AC was acting up and started not to work properly. I said no way. It’s only been 2 years since we had the unit built into the house! Called the company who installed it which were McCullough, they came out the very next day. Informed us that some part installed were rubbing together causing the AC failure. They called Goodman to see if they would pay for the parts or labor. They refused. So here we are having to pay for parts and labor on 2-year-old AC unit! This is absurd. If you’re in the market for an AC unit I will avoid Goodman at all costs! I’ve done my Google search and well maintained AC unit should last 10-12 years. Something to fail at 2-3 years is not acceptable. Either they use cheap parts and also their customer service is non-existent.

Three year old 14 SEER heat pump developed a condenser coil leak. They warranted the part but not labor to have it installed. I had the new coil installed on a Friday. By Monday the coil drip pan developed a crack and was leaking water. Goodman was called by the installing A/C company for a replacement part and asked them to cover the install due to their part being faulty. Goodman refused to help or cover the labor cost. DO NOT BUY A GOODMAN! I’m cutting my losses and getting a better system from a company that cares about their customers.

Stay away from Goodman Manufacturing if you are looking for quality and longevity. We were pressured by our property management to install Goodman systems for our 11000 s.f store. We objected but felt some degree of duress since we were hoping to have a good relationship with our landlord over the 10 year lease we were signing. We finally capitulated. Within five years all three units were 'bad' according to two different companies. The company that replaced them used Daikin which apparently is owned by Goodman or vice versa. One of those units has failed at just one year and during the polar vortex at that. 'Parts have been ordered' but it has been weeks that we have been operating on auxiliary heat which is very expensive. We have spent thousands and been uncomfortable both in Summer and Winter due to poor performance for the duration of operation. These companies are wasting precious resources manufacturing garbage.

Updated on 01/30/2019: Third time I am writing in less than 2 weeks. Unit was just serviced last week with new sensor unit and now not working. Goodman knew all these issues and kept stonewalling us and now COLDEST weather of the year is here and NO HEAT. They knew last year it was a piece of crap and were supposed to give us NEW UNIT. This is shameful! Husband a disabled vet, can't ambulance well, and now we wake up FREEZING because Goodman are crooks. Clanking noise I heard yesterday is probably compressor but boss has to come out TOMORROW while we freeze! This is OUTRAGEOUS and DANGEROUS! This piece should have been replaced already!
Updated on 01/29/2019: UPDATE! New defrost sensor put in on 1/18/2019 and now the unit is making such a loud clacking noise it woke me up. I have already written all the problems this unit has had from day one. This thing has broke every season and continues. The tech has to come out again today. We were told LAST year the unit would be replaced because of so many issues. Now Goodman is blowing us off, and not keeping their end of the bargain. 4 years of nothing but trouble and $7500.00 later and no resolution? My husband is a disabled veteran and cannot do much. Goodman needs to answer our concerns and get us a NEW UNIT as they said they would!
Original review: I am sitting here waiting AGAIN for the technician to service this thing. Every season since buying it in 2015 something has broke. Last year it was the coil and drove our bill up so high before repair our budget amount was huge. Circuit board been replaced, refrigerant and Freon leaks, relay switch, and more. Tech has not given receipts for each time he came out saying he keeps them on his computer. When coil was replaced the dealer said no more fixes. If it breaks AGAIN the unit will have to be replaced. Well he left and new dealer/rep changing details. Says he has to call Texas to talk to company. This is a piece of JUNK!! We did not pay $7500.00 to have someone coming out fixing something every time the season changes!!! GOODMAN we want a new unit!! You are a thief putting out defective products.

After installation the first cold day the unit froze over. Contacted installer. He contacted Goodman but after a week no answer. Finally the installer installed a new part. Unit still froze over. Contacted the installer again. At that time I also contacted Goodman and spoke to a manager. Days later the installer called and stated they were shipping another part and this should fix the problem. Heard nothing for a week or so so contacted the installer again. This has been going on now for almost a year. To this day the unit is not working properly. I would never recommend Goodman to anyone.

I purchased both a Goodman Central AC Unit and a Goodman Furnace in 2013. I had become disabled around that time and this was my last big purchase. I had hoped that in buying 2 new units that I wouldn't have problems with them and that they'd be reliable for years to come. That was not the case. When I went to start up the AC at the beginning of the 2nd year, it wasn't working. The repairman had to replace the coil. Now, going into the 5th year, my furnace is not working. The repairman came out and said it needed a part that had to be ordered. He said the error code on the panel read: 'Low fire pressure switch open.'
Since it was Friday afternoon when the repairman came out, the part wouldn't be delivered until late Monday (or early Tuesday) and so therefore Tuesday would be the earliest it could be repaired. This left me without heat for almost 6 days in 30-degree weather with snow on the ground. It's freezing in this house. I have severe arthritis and nerve damage which is worse in the cold. I've had to increase my pain medication and I'm stuck sitting under a heated blanket.
I made this purchase because I didn't want to have to worry about my old system breaking down while I was out of work with limited funds and as it turned out, my 20-year-old system was more reliable. I'm really disgusted with this company. Both their AC units and furnaces are junk. I spent thousands thinking I was making a good investment for my home and it's one of the worst purchases I've ever made.

4-year-old Heat pump, been out 5 months through summer, now into fall. Coil started leaking out dents in bottom... just the way factory installed. Kept getting run around about 'they couldn't find box' to ship warranty replacement in. Got replacement finally and it's so beat up, likely down at least 10% in efficiency due to smashed fins. Made me sick to have to spend $6-800 to install that garbage. Tech said was in box with a few foam peanuts. At least 4 months to ship THAT. Appears ongoing problem for years. They just selfish, money grabbing thief company. NEED CLASS ACTION SUIT TO STOP THIS NONSENSE!

Bought mine about 5-6 years ago. Filled out online warranty registration and noted date on the warranty along with all serial and model numbers that I filed on warranty. Inside fan failed. Installer who sold unit said that Goodman said unit was not registered. I did register the unit. We had call after rope-a-dope call with them and nothing was ever resolved. Cost me 800.00 because they lost my registration. I would take a polygraph on this one and pass, because I did file the warranty. Very bad business... Never again.

Old AC unit went out, homeowners insurance barely paid for the bottom right cheapest crappy product available on the market, which was a Goodman compressor and coil. The brand new coil lasted 46 days before it had emptied out of all of the refrigerant due to holes in the brand new coil. I live in Tucson, Arizona where the summers are between 105 and 115° and my AC went out in the middle of the summer and I was without any AC for four weeks before the homeowners insurance finally paid for the crap product, which didn’t even last two months. After two separate deductibles, two separate sets of uncovered charges my out-of-pocket is now just over $2000 for a product that wasn’t worth 500 to begin with. Buyer beware, seriously beware, do not purchase Goodman products.

I purchased a Goodman Heat pump with high hopes only to be sadly disappointed. I have had this unit for 6 years and in this time, I have had to replace the evaporator core which was under warranty but the service and the recharge was not. The bill was 600 dollars. I have replaced the motor on the outside unit. I have had to have three capacitors replace and the unit recharged 4 different times. The most joy that this unit has brought me was the today when I bought a different unit.

Purchased two Goodman/Amana heat pumps at the same time for my home. Both 16 SEER, one was a 2 ton unit, one was a 5 ton unit. All new units, both inside and outside. First Unit: Would not heat without kicking on strips. Thirteen service calls and 4 years later, it was finally addressed. Second Unit: 2nd year, capacitor failed. 3rd year, same capacitor failed. 4th year, outside unit fan failed. Had a couple of other smaller issues, too.
Also purchased 10 year parts/labor warranty with Goodman. Apparently not. Even though I have an invoice that states what I purchased, Goodman will not recognize the labor warranty. Made many calls to get the issue addressed and they would not listen. I can understand one or two problems, but not many significant problems, continually on two separate new units. We keep temp 78 in summer and 68 in winter, so not an overworked system. Carry your business elsewhere or set a dinner plate for the regular serviceman as we did.

Q. Do I need a dehumidifier with a hose connection?
A. A dehumidifier with a hose connection allows you to divert the collected water directly to a drain or sink so you don't have to empty the tank. This can be useful if you're running your unit in a basement with a floor drain or sink — or if the dehumidifier is in a practical location to divert the water straight out of the window into an outside drain or onto your lawn.
Not everyone needs a dehumidifier with a hose connection, but some people find it’s an invaluable feature.
Q. Will a dehumidifier help with my allergies?
A. Running a dehumidifier can help reduce certain indoor allergens. Some allergens — such a mold and dust mites — need a humid environment to thrive. Keeping the humidity in your home below 50% will help reduce allergens.
Q. What is a humidistat?
A. A humidistat tests the humidity in the air, so the dehumidifier can maintain the level you've selected. For instance, if you set a dehumidifier to maintain a room at 50% humidity, the humidistat can tell when humidity drops to 50% or below, at which point the dehumidifier will switch itself off.
Q. How do I maintain my dehumidifier?
A. You don't need to do much to keep a dehumidifier in good working order. Just make sure you clean the air filter about once a month, empty the tank every one to two days, and occasionally clean the tank to stop the build-up of limescale or bacteria.
